Beginner Crochet Instructions: How to Make a Simple Boot Topper

I absolutely love to crochet. I have just started to crochet a few months ago, and I love making my own projects and designs. For the first pattern on Creating Camille, I have decided to show you how to make some really easy boot toppers. Any beginning crocheter can make these, and I hope you enjoy this pattern!

What you will need:
Grey Yarn (I used a medium weight)
Size K crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Buttons

The first thing you need to do is chain 46; the reason I made the chain so long is so that you can adjust the circumference based on the size of your leg, and where you want it to be positioned on your leg.

The next step is to double crochet 7 rows. If you want your boot topper to be wider, then you can add more rows. This pattern is very forgiving, and don't be afraid to make changes based on your desired outcome.

After you have crocheted 7 rows, then you can measure the circumference of your leg. I would recommend measuring on your bare leg, and making the boot topper slightly tight so that when you wear it over leggings or jeans it will fit snug.

Once you know how you want it, slip stitch all the way across according to where you want it on your leg. If you do not want to use a slip stitch and are more comfortable with sewing at this point, then you can. You will just have more loose ends to weave in later on.

You can finish it off at this point, and pull through your end. The next step is to turn it inside out and add your buttons. I chose to use two, but you can use as many as you'd like.

Once you sew on a button, use the extra yarn on your needle to sew the sides together.

Once both of your buttons are on and you have tied the yarn, then you can weave in your ends. That's all there is to it!

Enjoy your boot toppers and put them at the edge of your boot so that they stick out at the top for everyone to see.

If you take your boots off, leave them cuffed at your ankles for a cute leg warmer look.

Have fun crocheting! If you have any questions about this pattern, then you can email me at: Camille_hart93@yahoo.com
