Beginner Crochet Instructions: How to Make a Simple Boot Topper

I absolutely love to crochet. I have just started to crochet a few months ago, and I love making my own projects and designs. For the first pattern on Creating Camille, I have decided to show you how to make some really easy boot toppers. Any beginning crocheter can make these, and I hope you enjoy this pattern!

What you will need:
Grey Yarn (I used a medium weight)
Size K crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Buttons

The first thing you need to do is chain 46; the reason I made the chain so long is so that you can adjust the circumference based on the size of your leg, and where you want it to be positioned on your leg.

The next step is to double crochet 7 rows. If you want your boot topper to be wider, then you can add more rows. This pattern is very forgiving, and don't be afraid to make changes based on your desired outcome.

After you have crocheted 7 rows, then you can measure the circumference of your leg. I would recommend measuring on your bare leg, and making the boot topper slightly tight so that when you wear it over leggings or jeans it will fit snug.

Once you know how you want it, slip stitch all the way across according to where you want it on your leg. If you do not want to use a slip stitch and are more comfortable with sewing at this point, then you can. You will just have more loose ends to weave in later on.

You can finish it off at this point, and pull through your end. The next step is to turn it inside out and add your buttons. I chose to use two, but you can use as many as you'd like.

Once you sew on a button, use the extra yarn on your needle to sew the sides together.

Once both of your buttons are on and you have tied the yarn, then you can weave in your ends. That's all there is to it!

Enjoy your boot toppers and put them at the edge of your boot so that they stick out at the top for everyone to see.

If you take your boots off, leave them cuffed at your ankles for a cute leg warmer look.

Have fun crocheting! If you have any questions about this pattern, then you can email me at: Camille_hart93@yahoo.com

Long Distance Scrapbook Embellishment

I am in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend (2,210 miles to be exact), and I often make scrapbook pages of the rare moments we have together. I am going to show you how to make a small suitcase embellishment for your travelling scrapbook pages!

What you will need:
Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue
1/4 Inch Wide Ribbon
Sharpies (Regular Black or Pen)
Paper Clip

This is how your final product will turn out!

The first thing you need to do is gather your supplies and get the small things ready. I have already prepared some of the things that I needed. I cut the brown paper into a rectangle with rounded edges and traced the outside with a permanent marker, I used paper to make the buckles and straps for the front, and I used a sturdy cardboard for the handle. Once you have these things ready, you will be prepared to assemble your embellishment!

First you want to use a glue stick to add on your straps and buckles. I recommend using a glue stick for this part, because it isn't going to be oozing out of the sides and it dries fairly quickly. The buckles are just small yellow squares with a sharpie colored "hole".

The next thing I did was glue on a little front tag. Get creative, and make your own designs!

I cut the handle out of cardboard (I used a cereal box), and I used a sharpie to make the handle black. You can use any color that you want, and then glue the handle on the back side.

In order to make the embellishment raised on the page to create a slight shadow, I glued many pieces of cardboard squares using Tacky Glue, and glued it on the back. You can skip this step if you want your embellishment to lay completely flat.

For the ribbon I cut a small piece of 1/4 inch wide ribbon, and wrapped it around the handle. This is why I chose to use a cardboard handle instead of a thin paper one. Use a little glue and cross the ends.

Once you have glued the ribbon onto your embellishment, then you can use the paper clip to hold it in place until it dries. This will keep your fingers from getting too sticky, and your hand from getting tired!

After your ribbon has began to dry, then you can first trim the ribbon if it is too long and then it is time to add your tag! I chose to write "Love Travel", but you can choose anything that you want for this part!

Finally you have a cute embellishment for your travelling or long distance scrapbook! Save money and make your own embellishments. They're a lot of fun, and turn out really cute!

Christmas Tree with Bow and Heart on Cricut Craftroom

I recently received a Cricut Expressions printer for my birthday, and I wanted to learn how to make cute stuff for the holidays without spending a ton of money on the cartridges. This post is going to teach you how to make a simple Christmas tree with a bow and heart at the top!

The first thing that you need to do is open up Cricut Craft Room, and make an account. It is free, and comes with a few Cricut Craft Room Basics that you will need for this Christmas tree project.

The next step is to click on the basic Christmas tree that comes with the Cricut Craft Room Basics.

After you have clicked on the Christmas tree you will leave it off to the side for now, and click on the Cricut Craft Room Basics letter "K", which will eventually become the bow for the tree.

Once you have the "K" on your screen, highlight it and size it down to about 0.986 width by 1.236 height and duplicate it in the options on the left of your screen.

The next step is to rotate one of the "K"s so that it is completely upside down, and connect the stem of the "K"s so that it looks like a bow with a line through the center.

The next step is to highlight the entire bow you have just made in order to be able to drag it as a whole piece (make sure that you have clicked "weld" so your bow is made into one whole piece). Then you can drag your bow on top of your Christmas tree until you like where it is placed.

Finally you can place a heart from Cricut Craft Room Basics on top, and you have your finished product! You can highlight the entire thing, and move it around on your mat. You can then connect your Cricut with your computer, and print off your new Christmas tree with a bow and a heart!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
